 Maclura pomifera, commonly known as Hedge Apple or Osage Orange, has been used as a stand alone herb or as an ingredient in various herbal concoctions.
The herb is extremely bitter, so if using this as an herb, it is suggested it be mixed in with something to disguise the taste, or powdered, so it can be encapsulated.

Maclura pomifera, commonly known as the Osage orange or hedge apple, is a small deciduous tree or large shrub, native to the south-central United States. The Hedge Apple tree typically grows about 30 to 50 feet tall. The distinctive Osage orange fruit, is round and usually about the size of a softball.
The fruit turns bright yellow-green in the fall.
