Maclura pomifera, commonly known as Hedge Apple or Osage Orange, has been used as a stand alone herb or as an ingredient in various herbal concoctions.
The herb is extremely bitter, so if using this as an herb, it is suggested it be mixed in with something to disguise the taste, or powdered, so it can be encapsulated.

The fruit turns bright yellow-green in the fall.
