Common uses -
As well as being a fantastic herbal product, Mullein is used in a variety of other applications. Mullein stalks can be used in all natural, organic Candle making. An all natural dye can be made from the leaves and flowers. Before modern times, the fluffy powdered leaf of Mullein was used as an insulator in shoes, gloves, blankets and bedding material. Mullein is also an excellent choice for many craft applications such as artificial grass, textured coverings, Christmas crafts, such as mangers, barn rooftops and wreaths. Lastly, in an emergency situation, Mullein is edible and can be used as a survival food.
Plant Identification -
Organic Mullein is easily identified in the wild. In it's first year the plant emerges in its Rosette form with nearly velvet like leaves. In the second year the Mullein plant emerges as a single stalk ranging anywhere from two to seven feet tall with a large terminal cluster of small yellow flowers. The plant can be found growing in disturbed soils, fields, roadsides and waste places.
