Unlike many herbs with medicinal use, Osha Root tea tastes wonderful, not bitter, somewhat peppery, with a celery type taste, somewhat like anise but, not really. It has a very pleasing smell and while steeping, will leave your kitchen with a delightful scent of fresh herbs!

Osha root is known by many names including Porter's lovage, Porter's licorice-root, lovage, wild lovage, Porter's wild lovage, loveroot, Porter's ligusticum, bear medicine, & bear root.

The Osha plant is a perennial herb found in parts of the southwestern United States. It is important that this herb be ethically harvested as it's numbers are declining in the wild and there has been little success in cultivating the plant. The Osha plant grows in the same habitat as poison hemlock and water hemlock, highly poisonous members of the same family. Osha particularly resembles poison hemlock so extreme caution should be used if Wild Harvesting Osha root as Hemlock is deadly and can even be absorbed through the skin.
