As with many medicinal herbs, Valerian Root is bitter and may taste unpleasant to some. Valerian Root capsules can be used to avoid drinking the Medicinal Tea.

 Native to Europe and parts of Asia, Valerian has now been naturalized in many areas of North America. The Valerian Plant is a perennial flowering plant, with showy scented pink or white flowers blooming in summer and will reach a height of up to 5 ft.

The roots are considered unpleasant by many with a particular scent. Cats can be attracted to the smell, getting the same type excitement as they do from Catnip. Valerian contains a variety of alkaloids including actinidine, chatinine, shyanthine, valerianine, and valerine.
