Also known as American walnut and the eastern black walnut the tree is native to the Eastern U.S. A large tree that grows to a height of 150 feet with a trunk diameter of up to 5 feet. The fruits of the tree are the famous Black Walnut we all know and love! The hulls of these fruits are used medicinally as well.

The bark and leaves of the black walnut contain compounds found to be alterative, anodyne, astringent, detergent, emetic, laxative, pectoral and vermifuge. All parts of the tree contain juglone, omega-3 fatty acids, phytosterols, polyphenols, carotenoids and melatonin.
