Pleurisy Root is also known as Butterfly-weed. Swallowwort, Tuber root, Wind root, Colic root and Orange Milkweed.
Butterfly weed is a perennial found in in well drained soil in open woods, prairies, fields and roadsides growing 1-4 feet tall. Beautiful clusters of bright orange flowers appear in summer, usually before it's companions such as Joe Pye, Iron Weed and Goldenrod. Unlike most other milkweeds, this species does not have milky-sapped stems.

Pleurisy root herb is obtained from the common plant butterfly weed. This beautiful Wildflower is a type of milkweed native to the eastern states in North America. It is very common here in Kentucky! The plant is sometimes used in home landscapes and gardens, and is known for attracting Monarch and other types of butterflies.

The organic roots have been found to be Antispasmodic, diaphoretic, expectorant, tonic, carminative and mildly cathartic.
