Meadowsweet has soft, graceful, white flowers clustered with a very strong, sweet smell. The plant flowers from early summer through early autumn and is sometimes referred to as Meadwort or Bridewort. Meadowsweet contains salicylic acid which was first isolated from the plant in the 1890's. Salicylic acid is the main compound found in aspirin.
